Erica Schuman is a member of the Litigation practice area with a broad complex commercial litigation practice, representing businesses across industries in high-stakes disputes where strategy, risk management, and business impact drive decision-making.
She advises clients through every phase of litigation, from early case assessment through resolution, with a focus on aligning legal strategy to commercial objectives.
Erica handles matters involving commercial contracts, class actions, restrictive covenants, trade secrets, media and privacy, and employment disputes. She litigates nationwide in state and federal courts and before arbitration panels, managing discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. She also advises clients on data privacy and cybersecurity issues that intersect with litigation and regulatory risk.

- Secured an arbitration judgment of over $1 million in favor of research and development client in contract dispute
- Obtained favorable summary judgment ruling in Illinois state court on breach of contract action involving dispute over choice of law
- Represented international corporation in federal court dispute involving trade secret theft and restrictive covenant breaches, resulting in favorable settlement for client
- Representation of several clients in disputes over enforceability of arbitration provisions
