Marie Christiansen is an Associate in the Litigation practice area and a member of the Government Investigations and White Collar Defense group.

She represents public companies, hedge funds, broker-dealers, and corporate officers and directors in high-stakes civil litigation and investigations by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Her litigation practice also focuses on a wide range of securities litigation matters, including shareholder class actions and corporate dissolution disputes, guiding clients through complex proceedings with strategic, business-focused solutions. Marie also handles complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts, managing cases at both trial and appellate levels. She represents clients in matters involving breaches of contract, breaches of fiduciary duty, fraud, defamation, and tortious interference, helping clients protect their business interests and navigate disputes efficiently.

Her practice extends to intellectual property and data privacy disputes, where she counsels individuals and corporations on risk management and litigation strategy. Prior to joining the firm, Marie gained valuable experience at law firms in New York, handling high-profile securities and commercial matters, as well as government investigations.

Experience

  • Secured dismissal of derivative claims against board of directors of biotechnology company in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
  • Obtained full dismissal with prejudice on behalf of law firm in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California against claims of fraud, conspiracy, and violations of California’s Unfair Competition Law (UCL).
  • Secured dismissal of claims against global software company for violations of California’s Invasion of Privacy Act.
  • Successfully obtained full affirmance on appeal of trial court’s dismissal of claims against website operator alleging violations of California’s Unruh Civil Rights Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
