Hoyoon Nam has extensive experience representing clients in the maritime and transportation industries.

He helps banks, investment funds, asset owners, corporate borrowers and financial sponsors with all types of financing and corporate transactions, as well as restructuring matters.

Hoyoon is also experienced in direct lending and other private credit matters, representing private debt providers in matters involving acquisition debt, special situations, rescue and bridge financing, as well as working capital and liquidity-enhancing credit transactions.

Hoyoon is particularly skilled in cross-border and offshore matters, regularly representing clients in the United States, England and Wales, and the Marshall Islands. He works to find commercial solutions to the issues his clients face and seeks to build long-term relationships with his clients. A native of South Korea, and qualified in New York, England and Wales and the Marshall Islands, Hoyoon understands the sensitivities around the cultural and market norms in different jurisdictions and approaches legal issues with commercial solutions in mind.

Experience

  • Led the international Vedder team representing Windstar Cruises, a leader in the small ship luxury cruising sector, in connection with its purchase of two new all-suite Star Class ships.
  • Represented Constellation Oil Services, a Brazilian offshore drilling company, in connection with contracts with Brazil’s Petrobras to deploy two ultra-deepwater rigs. The total value of the contracts, including mobilization fees, extension options and additional services, amounted to approximately $1 billion.
  • Represented U.S.-based investment fund in connection with an opportunity zone investment
  • Represented Norway-based seafood company in connection with its U.S.-based investment activities
