Charles Murphy represents institutional, public and private clients, including banks and non-banks, in a variety of real estate and commercial finance transactions. As a former Certified Public Accountant, Chuck understands commercial transactions, not just the law. Combining a deep legal knowledge with strategic insight, he navigates clients through complex transactions to protect their interests, achieve their objectives and conclude matters efficiently.
His practice covers entities in many different sectors across the United States, including health care, hospitality, commerce and industry. Chuck advises clients in all types of matters, including financing, syndications, acquisitions, dispositions, and development. He has extensive experience representing lenders, borrowers and other participants in permanent, bridge, construction and mezzanine loan transactions. He regularly assists clients with loan restructurings, workouts and foreclosures.
Chuck follows a highly organized and responsive approach that balances legal precision with commercial pragmatism. He focuses on effective and efficient representation so his clients can focus on their business.
Experience
- Represented the lead syndication agent and lender on a $270 million acquisition loan secured by 30 senior housing facilities located in five states.
- Represented a lender in a $103 million term loan secured by multiple medical office buildings located in New York, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
- Represented a lender in a $25 million construction loan for a mixed-use apartment building to be built in Los Angeles, which also involved mezzanine financing.
- Represented a lender in a $35 million construction loan for a Marriott hotel to be built in Kentucky, which also involved C-PACE financing.
- Represented a lender in a $46 million construction loan for a medical office building to be built in Virginia.
- Represented a public company borrower in connection with $800 million in revolving and term loan facilities secured by assets located in the United States, Canada and Australia.
- Represented a seller of a ready-mix concrete business and related real estate located in Chicago.
- Represented a lender in a deed in lieu of foreclosure in connection with a senior housing facility located in Florida.
- Represented a lender in a foreclosure and receivership action in connection with 3 senior housing facilities located in California.
