Alex Weinstein is a labor and employment lawyer who represents middle market and large cap companies in matters related to restrictive covenants and trade secret protection, employment litigation and general employment counseling.
Serving clients across all industries, Alex has extensive experience supporting professional services businesses, particularly in the financial services sector, as well as SaaS-based companies.
Known for his work on restrictive covenants and trade secrets, Alex helps businesses protect their confidential information, trade secrets, customer relationships and employee talent. As a one-stop shop, Alex routinely drafts and revises confidentiality and restrictive covenant agreements to ensure maximum enforceability. Whether a client is hiring a new employee from a competitor or an employee leaves a client for a competitor, Alex advises businesses on the best options to protect their interests.
With respect to his litigation practice, Alex guides clients through employment disputes including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, pay equity, executive disputes, whistleblower claims and government contractor employment disputes, and also provides litigation avoidance strategies. Recognizing tensions can mount when disputes arise, Alex takes pride in bringing a calm energy to the table, allowing all parties to make thoughtful and business-driven decisions.

Experience
- Secured a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction, following a mass resignation, on behalf of Registered Investment Advisory firm barring four former employees from soliciting and servicing clients in violation of their employment agreements, soliciting client's employees in violation of their employment agreements, misappropriating trade secrets and barring new employer from tortiously interfering with client's employment agreements.
- Represented an executive and his new multinational Class I railway employer in a series of disputes relating to the executive’s restrictive covenants with his prior multinational Class I railway employer, including successfully invalidating his restrictive covenants with his prior employer following a bench trial.
- Serves as outside general counsel to a well-known employment assessment company, allowing the client to maximize efficiency in legal spend while obtaining expertise in a wide array of legal disciplines.
- Represented expert witness and new expert consulting services employer in a lawsuit brought by the former employer, including defeating efforts by the former employer to obtain a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction. Following denial of the former employer’s request for injunctive relief, the case was resolved on favorable terms for our clients.
- Represented a prominent environmental testing company in an unfair competition claim against former employees and a new employer based on allegations that the former employees developed a new company relying on confidential information and trade secrets of their prior employer. The case was resolved on favorable terms for our client.
- Defended an industry-leading language education company against a former employee alleging discrimination and retaliation. The case was resolved on favorable terms for our client.
